Ukraine strikes at heart of Russia as US subs close in

UKRAINE confirmed yesterday it had launched a series of drone strikes deep inside Russian territory, just hours after Donald Trump ordered two of his nuclear-capable submarines to be "positioned in the appropriate regions".

it had targeted a military airfield and other key installations in Russia using kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles capable of flying hundreds of miles.

It demonstrates the extent to which Ukraine’s drone-making programme has evolved since the war began.

Friday night’s targets included the Primorsko-Akhtarsk airfield in Krasnodar Oblast - 79 miles from the border and where Iranian-made Shahed drones are kept and launched.
