AUTUMN is on track to be the hottest for 160 years as the Met Office forecast warmer than usual temperatures for another three months lasting into winter.
As parts of Britain bask in a 25C heatwave, beachgoers can look forward to more balmy weather from the Continent in the sunbathers coming weeks.
Many flocked to parks and beaches yesterday, and more of the same is expected today, with 26C in the South.
Average highs this time of year are 16C but the North saw 22C yesterday, and heat nudging 25C will continue until Wednesday. Many areas were hotter than the Mediterranean, with 24C in Nice, France.
