Splashing out to celebrate!

CITIES around the world rang in the New Year with spectacular firework and light displays as they competed once more to put on the best show.

Many celebrations returned for the first time in three years after the pandemic, including in London and Edinburgh with its traditional Hogmanay event. 

Both cities’ extravaganzas were sold out and despite near-freezing temperatures in the Scottish capital, thousands watched the displays.

In London, revellers braved the rain, above, as they staked out their spots opposite the London Eye to get the best views of the midnight show.
