Prince Harry: I'm no victim!
Sunday Express
|March 05, 2023
The Duke of Sussex also revealed he has been diagnosed with PTSD after seeking therapy to deal with trauma.
PRINCE Harry last night insisted he does not see himself as a “victim” and that sharing his life story was “an act of service”.
Since leaving the Royal Family, Harry has taken part in an explosive Oprah Winfrey interview, published a memoir and released a six-part Netflix series about his life with wife Meghan.
But he denied suggestions he was “wallowing in self-pity” and said he hoped that sharing his story would “help empower and encourage others”.
In an extraordinary 90-minute conversation with controversial trauma expert Dr Gabor Maté, the Prince revealed:
• How he disliked cocaine as it did nothing for him but could see the benefits of marijuana and psychedelic drugs;
• How he always felt different to other family members and, since his therapy, believes they speak a different language to him;
• How he “smothers” his children with the love he believes he was denied from his own father.
Harry was speaking on a live web broadcast available to paid subscribers, who were also sent a copy of Spare, his explosive best-selling memoir.
The “intimate” £17-a-head virtual conference was billed as a conversation about “living with loss and the importance of personal healing”.
