New weapon to fight that flab? Blackcurrants!

A DAILY “superfood” blackcurrant capsule is a natural, safer and cheaper rival to Type 2 diabetes drugs such as Ozempic in the fight against flab, researchers suggest.

In a “watershed moment”, they discovered supplement CurraNZ, made from New Zealand blackcurrant extract, supercharged fat burning by more than 200%.

It accelerated fat burning in the group of 22 men and women by an average 28%. And women with higher body fat percentages displayed the biggest increases of 153% and 216%.

The study also noted the effects were not influenced by fitness status.

Only seven days on the berry supplement led the group to burn, on average, an additional 3.6 grams of fat in one hour of exercise.
