The next chapter in the controversial Netflix series about the Royal Family will date back as far as Queen Victoria, with filming possibly starting next year.
Netflix boss Ted Sarandos is expected to seal the deal "imminently" after months of negotiations with Crown creator Peter Morgan and his team.
Sarandos flew to London last week for The Crown's Season 5 premiere where he described the show as the streaming giant's own "crown jewel".
