OpenAl, the poster child of Artificial Intelligence, has given the green light to AMD’s next-gen chips, due next year, as a viable alternative to Nvidia's dominance.
That’s a big win, and CEO Lisa Su thinks it could lead to more than $100billion in sales over the next few years.
The core of AMD's business is high-performance chips for PCs, gaming consoles and Al data centres. But it is the data centre segment that is now front and centre.
The OpenAl deal, alongside an earlier win with Oracle, gives AMD the credibility it has long been chasing in the Al compute space.
