Crackdown on violence against women and girls

THE biggest crackdown on violence against women and girls has been promised, with all police forces having dedicated rape and sexual offence investigation teams by 2029.
Domestic Abuse Protection Orders will ensure offenders face curfews and have to stay out of exclusion zones or face up to five years in jail while special police teams will target online abusers.
The Violence against Women and Girls strategy, to be launched shortly, follows fears that an average of 200 rapes are recorded daily, but more go unreported.
Ministers claim forces' lack of specialist knowledge leaves predators free to walk the streets.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said: "This government has declared violence against women and girls a national emergency.
