Cooper's crackdown on traffickers after Christmas crossings

HOME Secretary Yvette Cooper aims to introduce laws cracking down on people traffickers within weeks, after the latest figures showed 1,163 migrants crossed the Channel in three days over Christmas.
There were 305 small-boat arrivals on Friday, in addition to 451 on Christmas Day and 407 on Boxing Day. More migrants were brought ashore by the RNLI at Dover yesterday.
The Conservatives have stepped up criticism of the Government's decision to abolish its policy of sending asylum seekers to Rwanda. They say it would have removed the incentive to come to the UK unlawfully.
