CIVIL servants in charge of handing out the nation’s £11billion foreign aid budget have been awarded record bonus payments.
The £1.8million bonus found its way into the pay packets of staff at the Department for International Development before its roles were taken over by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
Figures released by the Government show that as a swansong the DfID awarded the bonus to almost 2,000 employees.
The department was closed over fears it could be working out of sync with other government policy.
