Cider goes down well with Gen Z drinkers

IT ONCE had a reputation as being the drink of choice for folk who wanted to get inebriated quickly and cheaply but trendy new ciders are proving a massive hit with discerning hipsters.

Such is its popularity with Gen Z - people born between 1997 and 2012 it has become the fastest growing alcoholic drink around.

And its popularity is expected to soar even more this summer thanks to a host of major sporting events, taking two to three per cent of sales from beer.

Last year, sales were worth £3.06billion and that is predicted to jump £3.4billion to in 2024 an 11 per cent rise.
