Britain faces sting in tail of hurricane

Storm to batter Bermuda before heading our way

HURRICANE Ernesto looks set to put paid to British summertime with the remnants of the storm bringing wet weather to our shores.

But there will be more sunny spells today and a few days of warm weather before the wetter conditions arrive.

The Met Office predicts a dry start to the week before the effects of Hurricane Ernesto, which left hundreds of thousands of people in Puerto Rico without power or water earlier this week, will be felt.

The category 2 storm made landfall on Bermuda yesterday and was expected to batter it with powerful winds of up to 85mph and potentially deadly flooding.
