£4m cost of rebranding Armed Forces...so they’re fit for a King

FROM hand-stitched regimental flags to heraldic crowns on cap badges, the armed forces will be changing their look after Charles’s accession to the throne.

However, forecasts suggest the transformation will cost some older regiments as much as £200,000 – with the wider bill hitting £4million when the Royal Navy, RAF and Royal Marines are included.

A memo by the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, seen by the Sunday Express, has laid bare the scope of changes ahead.

These will affect cap badges, ceremonial colours and regimental standards.

The memo said: “With the accession of King Charles III there will be some changes that will affect the Regiment.

“The key message is that many physical changes will be required.”
