Duo make course knowledge count

THE Balfour and Houldsworth Committee’s first competition of the season for the Houldsworth Cup was held at Disley Golf Club and it attracted a full field of over 120 for the BB Pairs Stableford to enjoy their scenic and challenging course.

Local knowledge certainly paid off as Disley players dominated on the day.

Posting an impressive 46 points to take the trophy were Disley’s dynamic duo of Chris Waldron and Andrew Quinn Williams, two more than Disley Captain Philip Clark and President David Stannway.

Next in were David Conville and Paul McCallum (Houldsworth) who won a cpo on 41 from five other pairs.

Philip Clark said: “It was a great sunny day at Disley enjoyed by all who attended and the tournament, was superbly presented by the Balfour & Houldsworth Committee.”

There were great celebrations during a Stableford competition at Mellor after Ben Mills (pictured) had secured an ace.
