Thief steals £5k of kit from social enterprise
Stirling Observer
|June 25, 2025
The members of a rural Stirling social enterprise were left counting the cost this week after a gallus thief stole equipment worth £5,000.
Green Aspirations is a social enterprise focused on reconnecting people to their environment, through woodlands based at the Cardross Estate, Port of Menteith.
Green Aspirations was founded Paul Cookson, who now runs the company alongside his partner Jo Edwards.
They were gutted to discover that several pieces of vital tools were swiped when they returned from a holiday last weekend.
Green Aspirations conducts workshops, kids holiday clubs, events, products (charcoal, traditional games, other small items), volunteering, sustainable woodland management - all centred around sharing traditional rural skills, like green woodworking and blacksmithing, with an emphasis on helping people learn to make things themselves, and encouraging people to think about where things come from and how they are made.
It has been running since 2013.
