Schools join police for village safety checks

Balfron and Strathblane pupils support road campaign
Pupils at a pair of rural Stirling primary schools joined police officers out on the streets in their villages as part of a recent road safety drive.
The children from Balfron and Strathblane primaries first received a road safety lesson in their assembly, before finding out what police do to prevent speeding and keep people safe - including getting to use the handheld laser device.
Vehicles found to be significantly exceeding the 20mph limit were stopped and directed to roads cops, who carried out vehicle and driver checks.
The drivers thereafter moved to a second group of pupils who conducted a questionnaire with them, encouraging reflection on their behaviour and the risks, consequences, and impact of speeding.
