School bus route safety worries

Changes to a school bus route to make children in Throsk feel safer are unlikely say officers.

But Stirling Council's environment, transport and net zero convener says she is willing to discuss the matter further in the hope of finding a solution.

At a recent full council meeting, SNP councillor Bob Buchanan asked Labour councillor Jen Preston if she was aware that some children in his ward must walk nearly a mile, twice a day, along a busy trunk road, some of which does not have a pavement to get to and from the school bus stop.

He added: "There is a bus stop within 50 yards of the houses but the council will not change the bus company's route. Do you think this is acceptable?"
