Bid to raise £50k for works

- CHRIS MARZELLA

An effort to raise more than £50,000 to help restore the water supply to an historic campsite used by generations of scouts has been launched.

The fresh water supply at the Barrwood Scout Campsite, near Denny, has deteriorated to such an extent that it is "almost non-existent"

Now the Barrwood Trust are hoping to raise the sum to repair the supply.

For more than a century, the Barrwood Campsite has been the place where local scouts have gone to learn and hone their camping and bushcraft skills.

Barrwood Trust trustee and Scouts Scotland volunteer, Hamish Scott said: "Today it enjoys over 8000 visits each year.

"But there has been a major problem over the last few seasons. The water supply to the wood has become more erratic to the extent it has become almost non-existent this season.
