Farm fined four-figure sum after probe
Stirling Observer
|February 13, 2026
A Dunblane farm has been fined a four-figure sum following an investigation into slurry pollution of watercourses in 2024.
-
The investigation was launched by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) over concerns around two tributaries of the Scouring Burn.
The SEPA officials observed discharge from a field drain and noted sewage fungus and discolouration of the water, alongside a strong smell of slurry. An assessment confirmed extensive pollution of organic life, with the impact of the pollution visible on aquatic life more than two kilometres downstream.
Water samples confirmed elevated levels of ammonia, BOD and suspended solids.
