Crime statistics show 7.6% drop in North West Province

In a joint media briefing, MEC Wessels Morweng and Major General Patrick Asaneng released the 2024/2025 Fourth Quarter Crime Statistics for the North West Province, covering the period from January to March 2025.

Encouragingly, community-reported crimes saw a significant 7.6% decline compared to the same period in 2024, with 1,972 fewer cases reported across the province's 85 police stations. All major crime categories recorded a decrease, including contact crimes, which dropped by 7.7%. The general decrease in crime also resulted in fewer incidents involving women and children. However, domestic violence remains a persistent issue, contributing significantly to crime figures.
