Wales on alert as two weather warnings issued

TWO weather warnings have been issued as more than half a month's rain is set to fall in parts of Wales and southwest England.

Christmas shoppers in Cardiff braved the rain on the weekend.

It comes after and windy weather hit the nation over the weekend, leading to disruption to travel and events.

The Met Office has issued a “yellow” weather warning for rain spanning from St David's in Pembrokeshire, east to Gloucester, and down to the Isles of Scilly.

And it yesterday issued a separate wind warning for parts of the nation.

Over the weekend, stormy conditions saw the cancellation of Bargoed’s Christmas Market, which had been due to take place in the Valleys town on Saturday. Caerphilly council said the decision had been made due to “the forecast of high winds’.

Forecasts suggested gusts of up to 43mph could be reached in the area.

This exceeds the safety limits of temporary structures such as market stalls.
