PONTYPRIDD cut the gap on Admiral Premiership leaders Merthyr to four points ahead of their clash this weekend after defeating Cardiff Met 17-10 at Sardis Road.
-
Hooker Louis Tovey opened the scoring for the Valley Commandos with the game's first try after 11 minutes, converted by Jorge Lucey.
‘That was cancelled out by an immediate response from Met courtesy of wing Tom Weekley and converted by Ross McKay.
‘That was the way it stayed until prop Garyn Daniel restored the Ponty lead five minutes after the restart, finishing off a driving maul from the home side. The try went unconverted.
Ponty scored a third try on 52 minutes when a quick tap-and-go from scrumhalf Joel Raikes set them on the break with No 8 Joe Miles going over, but again the try went unconverted.
McKay kicked a penalty to secure a losing bonus point for Met in what was their sixth straight defeat.
