Neighbours clash in cup derby

ROUND two of the JD Welsh Cup has thrown up a tasty derby clash with neighbours Port Talbot Town and Afan Lido renewing old rivalries.

The two former cup finalists, who are separated by less than a mile, are meeting at Victoria Road this afternoon in a competitive fixture for the first time in three-and-a-half-years.
‘Afan Lido were 6-0 victors when the sides met in the Welsh Cup back in 2021/22, but have struggled for form so far this term.
Garry Taylor's Lido side have won just two of their opening 10 games in JD Cymru South, while had to come from behind to beat third tier Evans & Williams 3-2 in the last round.
Port Talbot, meanwhile, despite now plying their trade in the fourth tier, might fancy their chances of a cup upset.
‘The Steelmen are unbeaten in all competitions so far and sit second in the South Wales Premier League Premier Division.
