Japan outcome crucial for Welsh World Cup ambitions
South Wales Evening Post
|November 11, 2025
WALES got their autumn campaign off to a disappointing start against Argentina on Sunday, but Steve Tandy will need to find a way of rousing his men quickly.
-
The draw for the 2027 World Cup takes place on Wednesday, December 3, and rankings are going to be a major factor in how the groups will pan out.
Saturday's clash with Japan carries plenty of importance on its own as Tandy looks to get up and running as Wales boss. But it will also have a significant impact on their World Cup prospects.
The top six sides will be placed in Band 1, while the sides placed seventh to 12th will be in Band 2.
Staying in the top two bands is crucial for sides hoping to be handed a favourable group draw.
