FOR more than 40 years the British Art Show has helped bring some of the country's best-known artists like Tracey Emin, Grayson Perry, David Hockney and Lucian Freud to cities across Britain.

City set to host one of the great touring art exhibitions

And now it's latest tour - British Art Show 10 - is coming to Glynn Vivian Art Gallery and four other arts venues around the city centre as part of a UK tour that starts in Coventry in September 2026.

British Art Show is the largest and most significant recurring exhibition of contemporary art in the UK.

It is developed and produced by Hayward Gallery Touring, the UK’s leading contemporary art organisation producing touring exhibitions, which is part of the Southbank Centre.

Elliott King, cabinet member for culture, human rights and equalities, said it was a real coup for Swansea to be named as one of only a handful of places around the country to host the tour.

He said: “The tour is coming to Swansea in February 2027 and wherever you are in the city centre, you won't be far from it because it’s going to be at the Elysium Gallery, GS Artists, Mission Gallery and Volcano Theatre as well as the Glynn Viv.
