Smith set to swap Tigers for Sharks

WALES prop Nicky Smith is set to leave Leicester Tigers and join their Gallagher PREM rivals Sale Sharks, according to reports.

The 31-year-old made a big impact when he moved to Welford Road after his departure from the Ospreys two years ago, with his outstanding scrummaging ability seeing him establish himself as one of the leading looseheads in the top flight of English rugby, as he was named in the league’s Team of the Season at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
Smith, who has 59 caps for Wales, had reportedly been offered a new deal to extend his stay with Leicester, but now looks set to depart when his current contract runs out at the end of the season.
According to Rugby-Pass, he will become Sale’s second signing ahead of next season, with the player agreeing to the move and only paperwork yet to be finalised.
