Football coach assaulted his wife and son in drunken row
South Wales Echo
|December 01, 2025
A FOOTBALL coach at a Cardiff club strangled his wife during a drunken argument and wounded his son with a wine glass when he tried to intervene.
During the altercation, he smashed glass and shouted "Come on then, who's next?"
Casey Warren, 41, had been in a relationship with his victim for 20 years and they had two children together.
On December 17 last year, they had been out together drinking and when they returned home, they continued drinking.
A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on November 12 heard the victim brought up the fact the defendant had been messaging other women and he responded by pushing her, causing her to fall to the floor.
She attempted to leave but described what happened next as a "blur".
Prosecutor Josh Scouller said the victim ended up being strangled by Warren who placed his arms around her throat. It was at that point the defendant's son came down the stairs and witnessed his father choking his mother.
