■COUNTY Cons are top of Group B in the CDSA Malcolm Keenor Trophy (sponsored by Rosetta Sports) after a 3-2 win against Mackintosh Snooker maintained their 100% start to the competition as they aim to secure a semifinal spot.

They had to come from behind against last season's runners-up though as a brace of 39 breaks from Jerry Connors versus Mike Rathkey gave the Mack the lead.

However, County hit back as wins for John Hicks against Mike Nessbert and Ryan Bowgen over Nathan Dunne saw them establish a 2-1 lead.

Dave Standage's defeat of Eassa Din sealed the win, but Carlo Schiazza's victory in the final frame against Dave Earls means there's only one point between them at the top of the table.

Rumney British Legion made an excellent start to the competition after their opening round bye with a 4-1 win over Canton Libs to move into third place in the table.
