After Kaizer Chiefs ended their decade-long trophy drought, the time has arrived to hand out player ratings for the 2024/25 season.

Goalkeepers

Fiacre Ntwari

The Rwandan international was signed for a significant fee and was expected to be the number one goalkeeper this season. He began the campaign in the starting line-up but 11 goals conceded and just one clean sheet in seven matches was a disappointing start. He was abruptly dropped and never handed another minute across 28 matches. He spent much of that time in the stands.

RATING: 5/10. Whilst Ntwari was hardly making regular howlers, his performances were a long way below expectations.

Bruce Bvuma

The development product played the final 19 matches of the 2023/24 season and his performances were strong. He was still dropped as Ntwari was acquired, but he soon won the number one jersey back. He performed strongly initially and of the seven clean sheets kept by Chiefs in the league, six came with Bvuma in goal. After leaking two soft goals against Marumo Gallants and then being in goal for a Soweto Derby defeat, he was dropped for the final three matches of the season.

RATING: 7/10. Bvuma had another steady season and was unfairly scapegoated. He may have missed the Nedbank Cup final, but he had a big hand in getting Amakhosi to the showpiece.

Brandon Petersen

The 30-year-old played just five of the 35 matches this past season. He initially came into the side when Ntwari was dropped, but only lasted two outings before Bvuma took over and Petersen was not seen in the next 23 fixtures in all competitions. He was back in the starting line-up for the last few matches of the season and his Nedbank Cup final performance was strong.
