MOTORCYCLE TEAM ACT AS COURIERS FOR VITAL MEDICAL SUPPLIES

'Blood Bikes' volunteers are delivering life-changing service

AMIDST all the problems in Lincolnshire in 2025, one group of dedicated people shows the county in a really good light.

A team of highly-trained motorcyclists is delivering blood, medicines, emergency supplies and even baby milk for the NHS around the clock.

“Blood Bikes” or The Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service was founded in 2012 and has seven cars and eleven bikes, but is really built on its people.

The organisation is managed by a committee of twelve and the members include 156 riders and drivers, some having advanced qualifications from RoSPA - the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

Other motorcyclists who make up part of the team have qualifications from the institute of advanced motorists, and a few are even police-trained riders, but all are advanced riders with additional qualifications to guarantee their safety on Lincolnshire's streets.

The membership also includes 22 controllers and eight supporters - all with their own reasons to give back to the NHS.
