Make you garden bat friendly

The nocturnal garden for the Bat Conservation Trust aims to help gardeners understand how their plant choices can support the wildlife that bats rely on for food.

The Bat Conservation Trust said a garden rich in insects is great for bats - a key indicator species which highlights the wider state of the environment.

The UK's 18 bat species make up a quarter of all the country's mammal species but while legal protection of bats and their roosts has helped some populations recover from historical declines, the situation varies across different parts of the UK, the charity said.
