Winter price boost for home owners as property values rise

Home owners in South Tyneside got a winter boost as the value of their properties jumped by more than average for the region.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show the average house price in the borough in the year to October was £161,231 — a two per cent increase on September.
That was higher the average across the North East, where prices increased by 1.3%.
