Industrial heritage site almost ready for homes development

A key part of South Tyneside's industrial heritage is almost ready to provide future homes for hundreds of families.
Civil engineering work to transform a huge disused dry dock the derelict dockland site at Holborn riverside, South Shields, into a vibrant residential area are nearing completion.
The largest of four graving docks on the site - Just off Commercial Road - has now been filled in to create an area which will eventually provide 299 homes.
Two of the three phases of development, by housebuilders Keepmoat and Cussins have already been built, with 135 houses and apartments sold and occupied.
