A project aimed at giving children in the North East the best possible start in life has handed out over 3,000 Baby Boxes to new parents.
Baby Boxes-handed out by The Children's Foundation charity-contain developmental toys, early learning materials, baby essentials and expert guidance to first-time parents.
The scheme, backed by North East Mayor Kim McGuinness, are designed to "level the playing field" for families in a region where a third of children live in poverty.
The Mayor said: "I've seen the impact that baby boxes have first hand, they level the playing field for new parents from day one.
