BRILLIANT FACILITY IS GOING FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

- By DONNA CLIFFORD

PETSVILLE is a petting and therapy farm in Barton Upon Humber. It is one year into its seven-year plan, so we headed along to see the huge progress made and what it is offering the local community.

Kate Coulam explained how the farm began: “I have lived in Barton 32 years, I finished the Cobblers café two years ago on the High Street, which is now our community shop.

“As soon as I got the Waterside Road site I started planting and it went from there.

“We've gone from a little bit of something to now having a full path circling the site which represents the circle of life.

“The sensory garden will be in the centre of the site which is currently being worked on, on the left we have a play area which is all natural and on the right a polytunnel, vegetable garden and we are currently building an outdoor kitchen.

“The farm is two-and-a-half acres with a woodland at the back and the animals and pens in front of there which go around the site, we have two goats, two pigs, seven chickens, a turkey and four rabbits, as well as a donated bee hive.”
