RING DOORBELL FOOTAGE IDENTIFIED KEENAN STEALING CAR TO USE IN INCIDENT

- By PETER CRAIG

A BURGLAR was part of a group who stole a car and used it to ram-raid a Scunthorpe merchants’ business.

He was identified through Ring doorbell footage taken when the red Vauxhall Astra was stolen.

Keelan Keenan, 20, of Davy Avenue, Scunthorpe, was also identified from cameras at Scunthorpe General Hospital where he attended due to a leg injury in the ram-raid.

He admitted a series of offences, including assault on police officers, burglary and criminal damage when he appeared before Judge Richard Woolfall at Hull Crown Court.

Prosecuting, Harry Bradford told how a Burton-upon-Stather resident was awoken by police at 6am on August 11, 2023, to inform him his car had been used in a ram-raid at Humber Merchants in Scunthorpe.

The owner checked his property and found a window open and keys missing.

Ring doorbell footage captured two men walking past at 1.30am with one wearing grey shorts, a white T-shirt, a black gilet top and a balaclava.
