We saw this last year, with the endless tranches of speculation about the Princess of Wales's health. Then last week there were fresh murmurings about a supposed high-stakes meeting between the Prince of Wales and his cousins.

The story goes that William threatened to remove Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie's titles if they failed to persuade their father to move out of Royal Lodge. But there's just one issue — Kensington Palace has flat-out denied that any meeting took place and any reports of threats of title loss are "factually inaccurate".
