FRANCO SMITH savoured another Hampden win for Glasgow but praised Edinburgh for pushing them all the way.

Warriors eventually ground down their rivals to land the bonus-point victory in front of 21,000 fans.

But they didn't get things all their own way as Edinburgh put in a strong defensive display to keep Glasgow's backs quiet.

Instead it was their forwards who claimed the glory for once - with tries for Matt Fagerson, Rory Darge, Gregor Hiddleston and Seb Stephen.

Smith said: “I'm obviously very grateful for the win.

“Last week we were the team that Edinburgh were today: we were without pressure chasing a win against Toulouse, and this week we were the hunted.

“Edinburgh applied themselves very well. They were very physical and didn’t miss a tackle.

“That was a huge compliment to their heart and the belief that they have in the programme there and the coaches.
