Video of exchange goes viral
NICOLA Sturgeon was left red-faced when confronted by a protester about the SNP allowing “violent men” access to female prisons.
It happened while the former first minister was posing for pictures at an International Women's Day event in Glasgow's city chambers.
Ms Sturgeon - invited to be a speaker at the Scottish Women's Convention International Women's Day event - was confronted by one feminist after she asked to have a photo taken with her.
The woman then told the ex-SNP leader she had been a Nats supporter for 17 years but left the party due to its push for gender self-ID, something that she was “so disappointed” with.
The viral video shows the woman, known as Darcy, asking if Ms Sturgeon “supports women” before telling her that she had spoken to a female prisoner who was locked up with “violent male prisoners”.
Ms Sturgeon shouted back twice that it was “not true” before walking away.
Darcy can be heard firing back asking if she had been “lied to” by this prisoner?
