RHYTHM AND BRUISE
Scottish Sunday Express
|November 16, 2025
Loose and funky, the loss of guitarist Mick Taylor brought out a more frivolous side to The Stones on this mid-70s gem.
While blues remained at the root of the band’s sound with raucous stomps like Hand Of Fate and Crazy Mama, they also expanded their palette, dabbling in everything from surprisingly supple disco (Hot Stuff) to reggae (Cherry Oh Baby), with stone-cold falsetto classic Fool To Cry in there too, Mick and Keef are content to let the grooves flow, along with Ronnie Wood on three tracks as a new addition.
This Super Deluxe box set includes a brand new mix of the album and a fascinating a Rolling Stones classic.
When Ronnie Wood's dream of joining The Rolling Stones finally came true in 1976, the band still managed to rain on his parade. It was Keith Richards who broke the good news to Wood in his own inimitable way.
