'Animals can be the perfect housemate'

TWO-FIFTHS of renters have smuggled a pet into their new home behind their landlord’s back, despite it being against their tenancy agreement.
With no automatic right to keep animals, a third have been refused a let, or forced to pay on average £288 for a pet surcharge to cover any potential damage.
A tenth have been forced to move back in with their parents because of a “no pet” rule.
