Ancelotti insists he can handle Ibrox top job

DAVIDE ANCELOTTI has told Rangers he's ready to step out of his legendary father's shadow and be a success in his own right.

The Ibrox club are closing in on a new manager - with Ancelotti the front-runner as the American revolution swings into action. Rangers' new US owners completed their takeover on Friday and are preparing to name their man after holding a final round of talks this weekend.

Ancelotti, left, desperately wants the job and has put Rangers ahead of offers from his native Italy, including newly-promoted Serie A side Pisa.

The 35-year-old has been assistant to his dad Carlo at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton and most recently Real Madrid.
