Young farmer in 'get checked' alert after shock bowel cancer diagnosis

A FARMER who was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 33 has urged other young people to get any symptoms checked out by a doctor.

James Rogers, who runs a large Christmas tree farm, received the diagnosis last May.

He needed urgent surgery to remove a tumour and then had chemotherapy.

James, who lives with his partner Ellie Henderson and their daughters Amelia and Lily, said he first noticed symptoms while on holiday.

He said: "I had a little bit of blood in the faeces. I was on holiday, saw the blood, panicked a bit, and it then stopped.

"But I thought, 'I should go to the doctors about this'. I have seen blood before and always acted on it.
