GLENFARCLAS has announced its oldest release in honour of its place as one of Scotland’s last few remaining family-run distilleries.
On the day the whisky was distilled — November 20, 1953 - Answer Me by Frankie Laine was at No1. Seven decades on, the Glenfarclas 70-Year-Old marks a pinnacle in the distillery’s legacy.
The whisky has been matured in the distillery’s traditional dunnage warehouses — a traditional type quite small in comparison to others and is created to provide top-notch air circulation.
Notable
This new offering was laid down in first-fill sherry casks.
Remarkably, it has been overseen by six different distillery managers over the past 70 years and now finally, it is being made available to purchase internationally.
Located in Ballindalloch on Speyside, Glenfarclas has a long and notable history dating back to 1865.
John Grant, chairman and fifth generation of the Grant family to have owned and run the business, said: “I am committed to overseeing the production of our exceptional malt whisky, just as my forefathers did before me.
