APHROAIG has become the latest distillery to team up with a Hollywood superstar.

This time, the actor in question is Willem Dafoe.

After starring roles in the likes of Platoon, Mississippi Burning and Nosferatu, the Wisconsin-born screen legend has teamed up with the iconic Islay whisky-makers.

It comes after Glenmorangie’s successful collaboration with Harrison Ford.

Dafoe, 70, will star in Laphroaig’s Unphorgettable campaign launched last year.

It includes a short film entitled The Taste which will explore his attempts to describe the complex flavour of the single malt, pictured, drawing on personal anecdotes.

The actor recalled: “The first time I ever travelled overseas, I went to Scotland. I was a kid, and the first thing I thought when my feet touched down on the ground was: ‘Something feels familiar here. I feel at home.’ The land spoke to me and it must be genetic because my grandmother was from Glasgow.”
