LUKE McCOWAN insists he understands fan anger after the latest Celtic flop - as it's not been this bad at Parkhead in his memory.

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

There were huge protests outside Celtic Park following Saturday's Old Firm collapse - with the board in the firing line and calls for new boss Wilfried Nancy to already be sacked.

The Hoops slumped to a sixth defeat in just eight matches under the Frenchman and his future is in the balance.

McCowan (above) says the Celtic squad is haunted by the horror run - but insists players must get behind the manager. He said: “It’s hard to tell the fans that [we're hurting too].

“They're watching it week in, week out. When has it ever been this bad? It's never. You're asking fans to react to something, which is the first time they're seeing it, and us as players, for the first time we're feeling it.

"It's not nice. From a player's perspective, it doesn't leave you.

"It haunts you every minute of every day when you're not winning.

"Getting home, not speaking to anybody, sitting on the couch, not moving, just staring at that black screen instead of having the darts or the football highlights on.
