Irish star's shout-out to baby girl

The mother of all Oscars for Jessie

Durald Arkapaw makes history

JESSIE Buckley dedicated her Mother's Day Oscars triumph to her eight-month-old daughter Isla — and revealed it came in the same week as another important milestone.

The first Irish winner of a best actress Oscar said after the ceremony: "It feels like some kind of crazy alchemy... my daughter got her first tooth this week. I woke up with her lying on my chest, snuggling me and I feel like, what a gift."

Jessie, 36, won the acclaim of the Academy for playing Shakespeare's wife Agnes Hathaway in Hamnet, alongside Paul Mescal and child star Jacobi Jupe.

She learned she was pregnant a week after filming finished. In her acceptance speech, she addressed Isla and said: "I love you and I love being your mum and I can't wait to discover life beside you."

Jessie added that Isla would have "absolutely no idea what's going on... is probably dreaming of milk". She then jokingly addressed her daughter, saying: "This is kind of a big deal."
