THE BHOYS OF SUMMER
Scottish Daily Express
|April 03, 2025
HAVING already secured Kieran Tierney, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is now focused on revving up his midfield engine room for next season's Champions League campaign.
The Parkhead recruitment team have outlined the current priority positions to strengthen the treble-chasing squad – namely a central midfielder, a defensive midfielder and a right winger.
Rodgers has already addressed and resolved the left-back situation, arranging Tierney's return to the club from Arsenal in the summer as Greg Taylor heads for the exit.
Getting the player they sold for £25million back for free is tremendous business.
Rodgers has made it clear it is all about quality rather than quantity - and specifically the kind that can make an impact in the Champions League.
Celtic progressed through this season's group section before narrowly losing to Bayern Munich in the knockout stages.
Rodgers is likely to adopt the same approach as last summer by taking the lead on player recruitment, when he made a statement of intent by bringing in Adam Idah, Arne Engels, Luke McCowan, Auston Trusty, Paulo Bernardo and Kasper Schmeichel.
The Northern Irishman is a known admirer of Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller and will almost certainly make another attempt to prise him away, having failed with a bid in January.
