Tesco gives food away to cut waste and hit net-zero target

FOOD that is about to expire at Tesco will be given to customers for free in a bid to cut waste and hit net-zero targets.
The move is being tested at a handful of Tesco Express stores across the country - but only after 9.30pm.
From that time shoppers will be able to take home yellow-ticketed items - those that are about to expire - at no charge.
Tesco said the food would be offered to charities and shop workers first before customers could take it away. Currently the company marks down the items by up to 90% using the yellow stickers.
