Terry's almighty slapper

IMAGINE you’ve decided to go hiking on Dartmoor. You, your partner, maybe some friends, trekking across the wilderness for hour upon hour, mile after mile, fearlessly meeting nature head on, putting yourselves at the mercy of its glorious unpredictability.

In mapping out your requirements for such an adventure, what do you think you'd need the most, in purely practical terms?

Me, I think I'd mostly need my head examined. But apparently there are people who actually enjoy such an experience.

And what those people need the most — other than some decent clobber from the Mountain Warehouse sale, which fortunately never ends - is somewhere nice to stay each night, to rest their aching limbs and recharge their batteries.

Which is why a place like The Rambler's Rest, featured tonight in THE HOTEL INSPECTOR (5, 8pm), should be raking it in.
